How the Depop fee is calculated

Processing is charged once per transaction on the buyer’s total: item price, shipping and any sales tax. On a $30 item with $6 shipping and 7% tax, that is 3.3% of $38.52 plus $0.45 = $1.72.

Boosting a listing costs 12% of the item and shipping, charged only if the boosted item sells within the boost window.

Bundles are processed as one transaction, so the $0.45 is paid once however many items are in it.

Why a Depop fee hurts more on cheap items

Drag the price. The percentage part of the fee stays the same, but any fixed charge is spread over fewer dollars, so the share of the sale you lose climbs as the price falls.

Ways to keep more on Depop

  • Encourage bundles: the fixed $0.45 is the biggest bite on sub-$15 items.
  • Boost sparingly. A boosted sale costs about four times the processing fee.
  • Price shipping honestly; processing applies to it, but there is no commission on it.
